It looked like a patch of gold
Hidden among the green.
The wife said "It's a bit too soon,"
But I knew what I had seen!

With eager anticipation
I await patiently each year,
For the first subtle hint and signs
That sweet Autumn is almost here.

'Tis not that summer brings me
No small amount of pleasure.
It's just that it's October clear
Bright day's I will always treasure.

And when the Cicada's begin their
High pitched buzz saw song,
It's knowing the days will not be many
Before Autumn comes along.
