Fancy Free

She came to my door one evening
A beautiful red color, dirty and trembling
Not much more than a puppy was she
Her mournful eyes looking up at me

My heart was stolen right then and there
I picked her up not fearing her dirty hair
I held her close till her trembling did end
She licked my face, knowing she'd found a friend

Oh what a beautiful gift God brought to me!
I named that ball of fur, Fancy Free
Into my life she brought blessings galore
I'm so thankful God guided her to my door

Living alone she was wonderful company
Mischievous at times my little pixie.
She was so full of love and such a doll
She was always at my beck and call!

From a deep sleep I awoke one morning
Thunder and lightening, oh it was storming!
Fancy was not in her bed as was her usual way
Didn't awaken me with kisses to begin the day

At the back door I found my bundle of fur
She was as cold as ice and didn't stir
When I reached down to pick her up
I thought of that day she came, just a pup

My tears fell as I held her close to me
Such a dark day, how could this be?
I want to turn back the time to yesterday
When opening my door I found this little stray

My Fancy Free was gone from me
My heart was broken in pieces so quickly
How would I be able to face the days ahead
Without my beautiful darling redhead?

James: 1~17
Every good gift and every perfect gift
is from above, and cometh down from the
Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,
neither shadow of turning.
